F.A.R.E.-Football against racism and discrimination

FARE Football People action weeks

 

 

The Football People Action weeks (October) seek to challenge discrimination and to celebrate the contribution that we all give to football, games  and Sport’s inclusive power.

The idea behind the Action Weeks is that a wide range of initiatives and activities that address local problems take place within clubs or communities and across the European continent to present a unified stand against discrimination in the game.

 

The Action Weeks aim to:

  • Increase public awareness of the discrimination in football , but also in other sports:

  • Create a united front by bringing together everyone in football

  • Develop ideas and new practices that challenge exclusion

A key part of the activities are the events that further social inclusion by bringing people of different communities together through sport.

 

Every year groups including fan groups, ethnic minority organisations, football clubs and a variety of NGOs from all over Europe organise activities and launch initiatives to challenge racism and discrimination.

 

Our project are relate to football, but also other sports and address issues around discrimination and exclusion, or social inclusion and diversity.

Our project aims are:

 

  • to promote FARE  activities in schools and community

  • to create a national /international event to promote sport, physical activities, especially football, but also other sports and to foster social inclusion and inclusive approach

  • to Create a united front by bringing together everyone in football /sport by involving immigrants, ethnic minorities or other target groups (religious, with disabilities, sex, etc.)

  • conducting a campaign to fight against discrimination and racism in community, especially in schools

  • awareness of young people but also of other members of community on inclusion and  social discrimination, intercultural and interreligious dialogue and guiding them toward a healthy lifestyle.

  • to promote national networking and cross-sector exchange experiences and knowledge

  • to Develop ideas and new practices that challenge social exclusion and to provide tools for good practices evidenced by projects, extracurricular activities or other activities undertaken by schools or other community associations

  • To develop publications that can be  examples of good practice

  • to promote FARE Action Weeks and our activities using massmedia, internet and printed promotional materials

  • training of sporting and social values, attitudes by adopting appropriate behavior in interpersonal and group relations, emphasizing the principles pursued activities: solidarity between peoples, fair play, combating violence, social inclusion, etc.

Our target groups :

 

  • students and teachers of different ages, parents and other members of community, at national and international level.

  • Students discriminated on ethnic (Hungarian, Rroma), religions (other religions), or with physical disabilities

  • Students from disadvantaged backgrounds (poor, low-income materials, and from the country)

  • Groups of pupils, which in sport and especially in football are discriminated against on grounds of sex

  • Students from grades football / other sports games (in high school clubs or sports), aiming at changing attitudes and their behavior (,, celebrity status ", sometimes aggressive) than students from other classes.

  • other specific groups of children (orphans, single parent, etc.)

  • Other community members interested in the project theme

What lessons can others learn from our  project?

  • Addressing cross curricular project involving more subjects (Romanian and English Language, Physical Education and Sport, Arts education, ICT, Music education, etc) defines an innovative method of teaching and learning.

  • Informal and nonformal mtehodes used in project is a requirement of quality education.

  • Although the basic theme is sports, many activities have led to a transdisciplinary approach to the educational process, through which students:

  •                     assume roles in the team, developing prosocial behavior,

  •                     develop their learning to learn competence

  •                     develop their critical and creative thinking

  •                     develop their language skills

  •             develop the ability to solve problems in new situations encountered by applying acquired knowledge

  • Students and teachers generate new ideas, so that the virtual environment, we could participate in an exchange of experiences and best practices where creativity, imagination and innovation have played a very important role.

  • The project addresses to all age groups, regardless of gender, religion, physical condition, social environement , etc, so that the proposed activities can be adapted to the requirements, needs, material conditions.

Evaluation / Impact project will be determined by:
 

  •  The number of partener schools and the number of participants directly involved in activities

  •  increasing level of collaboration, social integration and solidarity of the target groups

  •  increasing social responsibility and solidarity of students, teachers, other community members

  • increasing interest of participants for involvement in extracurricular activities / projects

  • improving the image of the school and sport club in the local and European community

  • materials produced by the project: presentations, photographs, posters, drawings, essays, films, etc.

Project sustainability

 

Projects that involved physical activity and sport are attractive projects for beneficiaries and we believe that our project has the potential to be developed further in the future.

Projects like this are quite a few, although the role of sport in society are well defined and is very important, so we hope that next year will have more school parteners.
